Co-Leader of WOLF, vice president and territory general manager for Best Buy
Mary Stoddart is vice president, territory general manager for Best Buy Co., Inc., a multinational retailer of technology and entertainment products and services. Stoddart uses her 14-plus years of experience working for Best Buy to guide, empower and motivate employees to use their unique insights to better deliver experiences that meet individual customer needs and help the company reach its growth goals. She is responsible for operations across the southeastern U.S., including Puerto Rico, overseeing more than 15,000 employees.
Additionally, in 2009, Stoddart was also named co-leader of WOLF (Women's Leadership Forum) at Best Buy, a vast network of thousands of Best Buy employees who work with individuals, brands, partners, stores, and communities to help Best Buy build strong women leaders and capture a greater share of the female consumer electronics market. She has been an active member of the WOLF network since joining Best Buy in 2005, and shares leadership responsibilities with Liz Haesler, vice president, Home Life and Trend.
Stoddart joined Best Buy in 1994 as an assistant manager. Her career flourished as the company grew, moving quickly to hold a number of leadership positions within the field organization. Throughout the next ten years she advanced to general manager, district operations manager, regional operations manager and district manager positions. In 2005, she was appointed to her current role as vice president of field leadership.
Mary participates in women in leadership forum (WOLF) as an active member of the store teams, delta corporate women's team as well as an outside female network, the omega group. She was recently awarded the 2008 Ally Award for excellence in field and corporate collaboration. She also mentors female directors internally in the field and at corporate through the Discovery Board Program and the Champion Mentor Program. She also volunteers with the Menttium Group, an independent organization that connects executives to a global network of junior executives to improve professional performance through mentoring. Her current mentee works in Mexico.
Mary also works with many volunteer groups and actively supports work with the boys and girls clubs. She works with the Girl Scouts of USA to brand the message of the premier leadership organization for girls to build courage, character and commitment.
Stoddart earned her bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College located in South Hadley, Mass. She recently attended "Orchestrating Winning Performance" at the IMD school of business in Lausanne, Switzerland where she was awarded the Best Learning Contribution Award in her class of 500 attendees.
Married for 22 years, she enjoys time with her four children, Will, 20, Haley, 17, John, 15 and Carly, 13. They currently live in Alpharetta, Georgia and enjoy the southern lifestyle!
