WOLF Packs: New Goals & Pack Replenishment

Happy New Year and welcome back from a busy, but great holiday. Now that the freeze is over, it’s time for WOLF to get back to business. Over the next couple of weeks, we will wrap up FY12 and prepare for a very exciting FY13 year. Once again, thanks to all the WOLF Packs who participated in the Innovation calls in November. We spoke with 41 of the 56 packs and received a lot of great insight and recommendations for the FY13 year ahead. This is an exciting time for WOLF and the Company as we have built a strategy that will align with the goals:

The WOLF Core team in partnership with the Strategy and Innovation Team have revamped the goals and objectives for the Packs in FY13. Some changes for the FY13 session include:

  • New roles and responsibilities for Pack Alphas
  • New innovation focuses that are in line with the Company’s FY13 objectives
  • More accountability for pack members to deliver female market share and increase females in the talent pipeline
  • Four new Community Store and Best Buy Mobile Packs bringing the Pack total to 60 in FY13
  • More communication and engagement from field leadership and Talent Readiness Program participants

Pack Replenishment

WOLF Talent Readiness Program: Preparing For A New Year

The WOLF Talent Readiness Program is being to ramp up for the FY13 program year beginning in March 2012. The program, focused on building Social/Emotional Intelligence and Skills (business and interpersonal), is unique at Best Buy in that we use connected world technologies that provide continuity of integrating practice and community connection between the 3-day quarterly sessions at the corporate campus.   “Our objective is to provide female leaders in key roles with a framework to self-discover – what’s working for them, what’s getting in the way of their key outcomes and leadership aspirations – providing context, experimentation opportunities and support to grow into the best version of themselves”, according to Mary Minton, WOLF Development Specialist and Program Manager for the TRP. “The content integrates with daily life and assists participants in identifying patterns through observation, experimenting new ways of approaching challenging situations and, ultimately, achieving the outcomes that propel growth personally and for the business.”

Connecting with Female Consumers: Blogging Program

Did you know of the women that follow blogs on www.BlogHer.com, over 85% of them have made a purchase based on a recommendation from a blog?  Bloggers have wide reaching and influential networks.  This is one of the reasons WOLF launched a consumer Blogging Network earlier this year.  We recruited active Bloggers to test and review product on behalf of Best Buy and then post the reviews to their blog sites.  This allows our business teams and vendors to receive feedback from female consumers, while also building awareness around the brand of Best Buy and products and services we offer across the influential networks of our Bloggers.

Our network consists of over 175 bloggers with monthly page views over 500,000.  These bloggers write about various topics; everything from Mommy bloggers to bloggers focused on technology, fitness, healthy living, financial wellness, etc.  Our bloggers recently tested and reviewed some small appliance products and Rocketfish iPad accessories.  Next they will be testing some health and wellness products.

In addition –

  • We have just shipped product (four small appliances and 86 Rocketfish iPad 2 accessories) to bloggers to test and review
  • Their blog reviews of the product should be posting to their individual blogs in the coming weeks.  More to come on this next month.  At a minimum, these blogs will provide exposure and marketing of Best Buy and our products to their followers.
  • If your team is interested in having our Bloggers test and review some of your products, please contact Heather.Petri@bestbuy.com

Friends and Family Offers - New Year’s Resolutions Start Here

WOLF Friends & Family offers are an important way to introduce customers to items they may not even realize we sell. This month, WOLF will be promoting health and fitness products to help people kick off their New Year’s resolution to lose weight and get fit. The offers can be found on the WOLF website at www.BestBuy.com/WOLF.

We are also advertising this special offer and New Year’s resolution message on TwinCities.com and through special ads on Yahoo in Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Orlando, Seattle and New York. Feel free to pass the offer along to your friends and family!

The WOLF Friends & Family program was created to help business teams reach female consumers in a new and exciting way. We post the offer on our website and promote through our WOLF social media—and encourage the network to do the same.
