Employees are invited to help "Save The Neighborhood" by participating in this year's United Way Campaign. To do so, click here. Thank you for your participation!
The Ultimate GivebackAt the recent WOLF Conference in Las Vegas, attendees kick started the 2010 United Way Campaign by making their pledges early. Their giveback has helped their respective stores get off to a strong campaign start, which officially kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and runs through the end of the month. You can deepen WOLF's impact by contributing directly to your community through a financial pledge.
Similar to last year, the goal of the campaign is for each employee to log onto the United Way contribution website, review their giving options and indicate what amount they can contribute toward our overall goal. As in the past, every employee dollar pledged will be matched at 40%. This means Best Buy gives 40 cents for every dollar donated, increasing one dollar pledges to $1.40.
The current economy is certainly a consideration when deciding what to give. While our first instinct may not be to donate, please know that the challenging economy actually makes the role of United Way that much more important. Best Buy supports how United Way helps our communities and it's important we're all given an opportunity to participate in the campaign.
This year's online pledge site is even more reliable than year's past. You can sign on and make your contribution in four ultra easy steps. The United Way pledge site is on Employee Toolkit (under Quick Access) or click here. When you contribute, you can designate where you want your money to go and who you want it to help. It's all about choice.
Deduction optionsThree donation options exist this year:
- Payroll Deduction (each paycheck for one year)
- One Time Payroll Deduction
- Stock Transfer
Deductions will appear on your paycheck beginning January 2010.
WOLF & The United Way
WOLF was selected to be THE Ambassador for the United Way campaign this year and we are very excited to help the company get to 100% Participation! Participation means logging on (not necessarily donating money). We encourage you to go online to see if a donation is right for you.
How can you help?Beyond logging on personally, there are a few ways the WOLF network can help Best Buy reach our United Way Goal. We invite you to talk to your co-workers about the importance of giving back to your local community and encourage them to log on and see if a donation is right for them. We also encourage you to partner with different United Way organizations in your area as you plan give backs in the upcoming year!
Why is WOLF getting involved?United Ways across the country are working to improve lives and strengthen communities. In addition to partnering with national organizations such as Campfire USA, Girls, Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs, Girl Scouts and YWCA, United Way partners with local community organizations that are meaningfully addressing the key issues that impact women, families and children. From ensuring kids are on track to graduate from high school, to helping young adults establish healthy habits and avoid obesity, to building savings so families can afford homeownership or college for their children-United Way is creating opportunities for a better life for all people. United Way's work in education, income and health-the building blocks for a good life-closely mirrors WOLF's focus areas. By addressing these key areas, United Ways across the country are creating lasting change in communities, because we all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, and when people have good health.
